Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 Endorses Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate

DETROIT, MI – Today, the Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43, the statewide council of Teamsters, proudly endorsed Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate. In their endorsement, they highlighted Haley’s deep commitment to strengthening the labor movement, her record of defending collective bargaining rights, and protecting Michigan workers against wealthy special interests.

“Throughout her service in Congress, Haley Stevens has been a steadfast champion for Michigan’s working men and women,” said Kevin D. Moore, President of Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 and Local 299. “Her record reflects a deep and genuine commitment to strengthening the labor movement, defending collective bargaining rights, and ensuring that working families have a voice in shaping the future of our economy. Teamsters Joint Council 43 is proud to stand with Haley Stevens, a proven advocate for organized labor, and we urge our members and all union households across Michigan to support her campaign for the United States Senate.” 

“One of my proudest accomplishments during my time in Congress was working with the Teamsters to pass the Butch Lewis Act, to save the pensions of tens of thousands of Michiganders from Wall Street greed,” said Haley. “I am honored to have the support of my friends at the Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 in my run for US Senate, and look forward to continuing to work with them in the Senate to protect hard-working Michiganders, fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, and economic security.”

Haley continues to build the infrastructure to win statewide in Michigan and gain momentum. She has the most union endorsements in the Senate race. So far, Haley has been endorsed by the Michigan Teamsters Local 299, Michigan Laborers District Council, International Union of Painters And Allied Trades, Operating Engineers 324, SMART Local 292, Boilermakers Local 169, Sheet Metal Workers Local 80, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 2, Plumbers Local 98, IronWorkers Local 25, Teamsters Local 243, UNITE HERE Local 24, Michigan Machinists Council, and Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Local Union 636

She has been endorsed by former Governor Jennifer Granholm, U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, and community leader Colleen Ochoa Peters, in addition to former Rep. Brenda Lawrence and a slate of Congressional Black Caucus Members.
