10/29/2025

“Haley has shown that when it comes to Michigan’s workers, she doesn’t just talk, she shows up and gets results, which is why we are proud to stand with her in her race for Senate.”

DETROIT, MI – Today, Teamsters Local 243, which represents thousands of union members in Michigan, announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate. The Teamsters, who are currently leading efforts to organize Corewell Health nurses in their fight for fair wages and safe staffing ratios, praised Haley’s record of standing shoulder to shoulder with Michigan’s workers, saving union pensions through the Butch Lewis Act for 42,000 Michiganders, and protecting the right to organize. Haley recently joined the Teamsters Local 332 members on the picket line in Grand Blanc to demand fair contracts, safe staffing ratios, and overtime/premium pay

“Congresswoman Haley Stevens has proven time and again that she’s a fighter for working people,” said Scott Quenneville, President of Teamsters Local 243. “ Within her first six months in Congress, she helped pass the Butch Lewis Act, protecting the pensions of more than 42,000 Michiganders. And today, as our members at Corewell Health fight for fair wages and safe staffing ratios, Haley is standing with us again. She’s shown that when it comes to Michigan’s workers, she doesn’t just talk, she shows up and gets results, which is why we are proud to stand with her in her race for Senate.”

“The Teamsters keep our state moving and have always been at the forefront of protecting workers’ rights and building a stronger middle class – they deserve a Senator who will always fight for them,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “I’m proud to have their support as we continue fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and economic security for every Michigander.”

Haley Stevens continues to gain momentum in her race and is the only candidate in this race with the endorsement of multiple labor unions. So far, Haley has been endorsed by UNITE Here Local 24, Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Local Union 636, former state House Speaker Joe Tate, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, the Mayors of Lansing and Grand Rapids, 11 mayors across Metro Detroit, 40 clergy members across Michigan, the Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus, Reps. Helena Scott (Detroit), Tyrone Carter (Detroit), Amos O’Neal (Saginaw), Brenda Carter (Pontiac), former Detroit Mayor and NBA Hall of Famer Dave Bing, former MI Governor Jim Blanchard, Elect Democratic Women PAC, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.
