Haley Stevens Emerges as “Frontrunner” in Michigan Senate Primary, “Has Some Sort Of Independent Magic”
6/2/2025
DETROIT, MI –– After a new poll from the Detroit Regional Chamber showed Haley Stevens as the “frontrunner” in the Michigan Senate primary and the only Democrat who can beat the Republicans in the general election, she’s being hailed as having “some sort of independent magic” by an independent pollster.
Momentum for Haley’s campaign continues to grow as she’s announced endorsements from Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, former Michigan Governor Jim Blanchard, and Grand Rapids Mayor David LaGrand.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING:
-
Glengariff Pollster Richard Cuzba to Michigan Radio: “…Haley Stevens, she leads Mike Rogers amongst definite voters by 6 points, and the difference in these races is, once again, those independent voters…. Haley Stevens has some sort of independent magic, which is really intriguing because she’s running dead even with independents with Mike Rogers. And think about that – He’s got 77% name ID to her 43% and she’s running even with independents. Compare that to, you know, Mallory McMorrow, who is losing those independents to Mike Rogers by double digits, and then you look at Abdul El-Sayed, he’s losing the independents to Mike Rogers by more than 20 points.”
-
Richard Cuzba to WSJM: “‘Haley Stevens does considerably better with independents than either Mallory McMorrow or Abdul El-Sayed, and that’s going to be really important to watch…’ Czuba said if you want to win Michigan, you have to win the independent voters. He says Haley Stevens brings what he calls quote, ‘independent magic.’”
