Former Rep. Brenda Lawrence and Slate of Congressional Black Caucus Members Endorse Haley Stevens For Senate

2/26/2026

DETROIT, MI – Today, former Michigan Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence and fourteen members of the Congressional Black Caucus announced their endorsement of Congresswoman Haley Stevens for United States Senate, citing her work on President Obama’s auto rescue, her effectiveness in the House of Representatives, and record of winning for Black Michiganders.

“Her entire career, Haley Stevens has been a fighter for Michigan, bringing experience, compassion, and a deep commitment to the people she serves. From helping save 200,000 Michigan jobs as Chief of Staff during President Obama’s auto rescue to fighting for Black-owned businesses in Congress and standing up to Donald Trump’s chaos, I’ve seen Haley fight and I’ve seen her win,” said former Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence. “Haley Stevens is the kind of leader who will go into the halls of the United States Senate and fight for the people of Michigan every single day. I was honored to serve in Congress alongside Haley, and I am proud to endorse my friend for U.S. Senate. I cannot wait to see her continue delivering for Michigan in the U.S. Senate.”

“Congresswoman Stevens is a fighter. As Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama’s auto rescue and being one of the most effective Democrats in the House, she has consistently delivered for workers and will continue to deliver for Michigan in the Senate,” said the CBC Members. “From day one, she has stood with Michigan’s Black community. She knows us, we trust her, and she shows up for us. We are proud to endorse Haley and look forward to working with her as Michigan’s next Senator.”

“My colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus are champions who inspire me each and every day,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “I am truly honored to have members of the Congressional Black Caucus by my side in this fight to beat Mike Rogers and deliver for Michigan in the United States Senate.”

Her MI Hope agenda is her promise to help build a better Michigan where equity drives opportunity, and hope is restored in every community. Haley’s long track record of winning for Michigan’s Black community is why she has a lead with Black voters in every poll in the primary, and why she has consistently held the strongest lead against Mike Rogers.
