United Steelworkers Endorse Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate

DETROIT, MI – Today, the United Steelworkers endorsed Haley Stevens in her run for U.S. Senate. In their endorsement, they cited Haley’s work as a proven fighter for Michigan jobs and Michigan workers.

“Haley Stevens has been by our side since day one, and we know she will continue to fight for working people in the U.S. Senate,” said Donnie Blatt, United Steelworkers District 1 Director. “Haley has been on the front lines fighting to protect thousands of manufacturing jobs across Michigan, and she’s been a champion for workers ever since. We know Haley will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the union members of United Steelworkers District 1, from manufacturers to miners, as we fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and giving workers a voice on the job.”

Haley continues to build the infrastructure to win statewide in Michigan and gain momentum. She has the most union endorsements in the Senate race. So far, Haley has been endorsed by the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union, Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43, Michigan Teamsters Local 299, Michigan Laborers District Council, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, Operating Engineers 324, SMART Local 292, Boilermakers Local 169, Sheet Metal Workers Local 80, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 2, Plumbers Local 98, IronWorkers Local 25, Teamsters Local 243, UNITE HERE Local 24, Michigan Machinists Council, and Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Local Union 636. 

She has been endorsed by U.S. Senator Gary Peters, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, former Governor Jennifer Granholm, former Governor Jim Blanchard, Attorney General Dana Nessel, and community leader Colleen Ochoa Peters, in addition to former Rep. Brenda Lawrence and a slate of Congressional Black Caucus Members.
