Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 Endorses Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate

4/14/2026

“We need a champion in the Senate who will fight and deliver results for Michigan workers. That’s Haley Stevens.”

DETROIT, MI – Today, Sheet Metal Workers Local 80, representing more than 1,600 members throughout Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, St. Clair, and Sanilac counties, announced its endorsement of Congresswoman Haley Stevens for U.S. Senate. In their endorsement, Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 Business Agent Eric McPherson praised Haley’s long record of delivering for Michigan workers, protecting Michigan jobs, and investing in innovation to grow Michigan’s economy for the workers who built it.

“We need a champion in the Senate who will fight and deliver results for Michigan workers. That’s Haley Stevens,” said Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 Business Agent Eric McPherson. “She’s spent her entire career protecting Michigan jobs and Michigan workers, from helping save 200,000 Michigan auto jobs on the auto rescue to investing in Michigan manufacturing in Congress to ensure our workers have the training and resources they need to succeed. We know she fights for Michigan, and only Michigan, and we are proud to endorse her campaign for U.S. Senate.”

“I could not be more thrilled to have the endorsement of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 80, who represent the men and women who are the backbone of Michigan’s manufacturing economy,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “Michigan workers need a Senator who understands Michigan manufacturing, and who will take the same Michigan grit that these workers show every day into the halls of the Senate to fight–and deliver–for Michigan. That’s exactly what I’ll do, and I’m honored to have my friends at the Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 by my side in this campaign.”

This is Haley’s eighth union endorsement, the most of any Michigan Senate candidate. Haley has quadruple the number of union endorsements as her closest competitor.

Haley continues to build the infrastructure to win statewide in Michigan and gain momentum. She is the only candidate in this race with the endorsement of multiple labor unions. So far, Haley has been endorsed by the Michigan Machinists Council, Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 2, IronWorkers Local 25, Teamsters Local 243, UNITE HERE Local 24, Pipefitters, Steamfitters, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Service Local Union 636, former state House Speaker Joe Tate, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, the Mayors of Lansing and Grand Rapids, 11 mayors across Metro Detroit, 12 Oakland County elected officials and community leaders, 40 clergy members across Michigan, the Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus, Reps. Helena Scott (Detroit), Tyrone Carter (Detroit), Amos O’Neal (Saginaw), Brenda Carter (Pontiac), former Detroit Mayor and NBA Hall of Famer Dave Bing, former MI Governor Jim Blanchard, former Governor Martin O’Malley, Elect Democratic Women PAC, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. Meanwhile, poll after poll shows the same thing: Haley is the only Democrat who can beat Mike Rogers, and the gold standard pollster in Michigan said that she has a unique “magic” with independent voters that her opponents don’t have.

Haley’s strength comes from her relentless focus on protecting and growing Michigan manufacturing, fighting Trump’s reckless tariffs that undermine Michigan industries and jobs while increasing costs, and working to make groceries and health care more affordable for Michiganders. Haley was named the most effective Democratic member of Congress from Michigan and the most effective Democrat in the entire Congress on technology issues. She’ll continue that record of winning for Michigan to the U.S. Senate.
