Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus, Michigan State Representatives Endorse Haley Stevens For Senate

9/12/2025

DETROIT, MI – Today, the Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus and four Michigan State Representatives endorsed Haley Stevens for Senate, citing her commitment to advancing economic justice, expanding educational opportunities, and expanding access to homeownership.

“Michigan is fortunate to have such dedicated public servants advocating for our families in the State House and as part of the Michigan Democratic Party, and I am honored to have their support in my campaign for Senate,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “I’ve always believed that the best ideas come from listening to and working alongside local leaders. Together, we will continue lowering costs for families, strengthening Michigan’s economy, and making sure every community across our state has a voice in Washington.”

“Our Caucus exists to advance the interests and concerns of African Americans across Michigan — ensuring equitable access to education, homeownership, economic opportunity, and the full promise of the American Dream,” said MDP Black Caucus Chairman Keith D. Williams. “Congresswoman Stevens embodies these values and has proven, through both her record and her vision, that she meets our high standards. We believe that with her leadership and vision, she will be a powerful advocate for our communities and help pave the way toward a more equitable, prosperous Michigan.”

In addition to receiving the endorsement of the MDP Black Caucus, Haley Stevens received the endorsements of State Representatives: Helena Scott (D-MI-8), Tyrone Carter (D-MI-1), Amos O’Neal (D-MI-94), and Brenda Carter (D-MI-53).

These endorsements continue a “string of endorsements” lining up behind Haley. Haley has also been endorsed by former state House Speaker Joe Tate, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, the Mayors of Lansing and Grand Rapids, 11 mayors across Metro Detroit, 40 clergy members across Michigan, former MI Governor Jim Blanchard, Elect Democratic Women PAC, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and UNITE Here Local 24.

Polling has shown Haley is the “only Democrat leading” Republican candidate Mike Rogers and, importantly, the Democratic candidate with the strongest backing of independent voters in the general election.
