Joe Tate Endorses Stevens For Senate: “Haley Will Lower Costs For Michigan Families, Stand Up To Donald Trump’s Chaos Agenda & Defeat Mike Rogers”

8/25/2025

DETROIT, MI –– Today, former Speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives and former Democratic candidate Joe Tate endorsed Haley Stevens for Senate, citing her track record fighting for Michiganders to lower costs, grow our economy, and stand up to Donald Trump.

“Haley Stevens has always been a fighter for Michigan and our communities, and I believe she is the strongest candidate to defeat Mike Rogers and the right person to send to the Senate to lower costs for our families and stand up to Donald Trump’s chaos agenda,” said Joe Tate. “I’m proud to endorse Haley and look forward to working with her to do right by Michiganders.”

“Joe Tate represents the best of America and Michigan: veteran, athlete, public servant, history maker, and leader,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens. “I’ve worked alongside Joe for years and seen firsthand how he’s delivered for hardworking Michiganders. It’s an honor to have Joe by my side in this race to defeat Mike Rogers and deliver real solutions to every Michigan family.”

Momentum for Haley continues to grow in the Senate race, as polls consistently show she is the only candidate who can beat Mike Rogers – with one independent pollster saying Haley has a unique “magic” with independent voters – and Republican operatives admitting that Haley “would be the toughest general election opponent.” Haley has been endorsed by Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, the Mayors of Lansing and Grand Rapids, 11 mayors across Metro Detroit, former MI Governor Jim Blanchard, Elect Democratic Women PAC, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and UNITE Here Local 24.

Born and raised in Michigan, Haley began her public service by fighting for Michigan’s manufacturing industry and jobs. During the Great Recession, she served as Chief of Staff to President Obama’s auto rescue, playing a critical role in stabilizing the auto industry and helping save 200,000 Michigan jobs. After she flipped a Republican-held seat in 2018, Haley has fought in the halls of Congress to grow Michigan’s manufacturing economy, bring down costs, and helped write the law to bring America’s semiconductor industry back to where it belongs: Michigan.

Haley is fighting to expand opportunities for every Michigan community. Haley voted to expand job training programs and apprenticeship programs for students – because she knows that while college isn’t for everyone, good-paying jobs should be, and she wrote legislation to make sure Black-owned businesses have access to the capital, business networks, and supply chains they need to succeed. She was also instrumental in passing legislation to make sure every student can access a quality STEM education that sets them up for success.
