From Detroit Radio to CNN, Abdul El-Sayed is Facing Scrutiny for His Comments And Whether He Could Beat Mike Rogers

Michigan voter: “We can’t let this man fool us.”

Jake Tapper: “It’s true that there are some really harsh comments about Haley Stevens… Here’s one quote… ‘She can’t string together two coherent sentences.’ Do you know who said that? That was you and your campaign.”

DETROIT, MI – Abdul El-Sayed is getting scrutiny everywhere this morning–from Detroit radio to CNN—for his comments and questions about whether he could beat Mike Rogers in November. 

First, on the Mildred Gaddis Show, Gaddis and local listeners expressed their concerns over Abdul El-Sayed developing “a pattern” of concerning headlines. The Mildred Gaddis Show highlighted concerns about El-Sayed’s ability to win a general election against Mike Rogers, and what El-Sayed has said about Black leaders like Michelle and Barack Obama, as El-Sayed prepares to take the stage with William Lawrence, a candidate who has said President Barack Obama had a ‘legacy… of cowardice and betrayal,’ and Black political leaders are ‘a big problem’ who ‘defang the white left.’  

Meanwhile, on CNN, Jake Tapper confronted El-Sayed for his “sexist” and “harsh” comments about Haley Stevens, which El-Sayed was “called out” in the Detroit News for this morning

MILDRED GADDIS SHOW:

“I am really worried about Mr. El-Sayed. I think there is a pattern here that is beginning to develop. He worked for the Uncommitted Movement that stopped Ms. Harris from becoming President. He said bad things about both Barack and Michelle Obama and now he’s campaigning with someone who has insulted Black Democratic leaders across the country. I just don’t know what he’s thinking.”

“It is a very concerning pattern…pretty consistent and Mike Rogers in November if he wins it’s pretty terrifying.”

“We can’t let this man fool us.”

“If he wins, say hello to the Republican candidate Mike Rogers.”

JAKE TAPPER, CNN’S STATE OF THE UNION:

“So the attacks on Haley Stevens are also at issue. I know there are a lot of attack ads against you, but there are so many attacks on Haley Stevens that on Friday you posted, ‘It’s become impossible to ignore the way that people online make fun of my opponent for things that have nothing to do with her policies or politics. It’s unkind and unhelpful.’
